A healthy blood sugar level is essential if you have Diabetes or are at risk of developing it. Medications and diet have a big impact on your glucose levels, Laxmi Mishra, Clinical Dietitian, Fortis Hospital, Kalyan, Mumbai, shared some homemade drinks to your diet as a delicious and effective way to keep your blood sugar under control. Here are the 5 homemade drinks that can help keep your blood sugar in check.

1) Cinnamon Tea

“It is rich in bioactive compounds, such as Cinnamaldehyde, which may help improve Insulin Sensitivity and may help lower blood sugar levels,” said Dietitian Mishra.

Cinnamon may influence the rate at which carbohydrates are digested and absorbed. By slowing down this process, it can contribute to more stable blood sugar levels after meals, preventing sudden spikes and crashes that can be harmful, especially for people with diabetes.

This drink has been shown to increase feelings of fullness and reduce appetite, which may help to manage food intake and prevent overeating, leading to better control of blood sugar.

3) Ginger Tea

Accordingt to Ms Mishra, ginger contains bioactive compounds like Gingerol and Shogaol, which have been associated with improved Insulin Sensitivity. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties and may contribute to the regulation of blood sugar levels.

4) Fenugreek water

To help control blood sugar levels in patients with Diabetes, fenugreek water has been frequently suggested as an effective herbal remedy which is distilled from the seeds of fenugreek. Fenugreek seeds are rich in soluble fibres, which have the potential to improve and control blood sugar level.

5) Turmeric milk

Turmeric contains Curcumin, which is an anti-inflammatory substance that can help to stabilise your blood sugar levels.
