Dr Tyagi recommended, “You have to stimulate and strengthen your mind as much as possible so that you can get back to your normalroutine.”

Here are some essential tips you should consider as shared by a study titled ‘Rehabilitation of Traumatic Brain Injury in Adults: Evidence-Based Practice’:

Follow Medical Advice

The first and most crucial step is to follow your doctor’s advice and treatment plan. This may include medications, therapies, and lifestyle modifications tailored to your specific injury and symptoms.

Rest and Relaxation

Give your brain the time it needs to heal by getting plenty of rest and avoiding stressful or mentally taxing activities. Adequate sleep is especially important for brain recovery.

Gradual Return to Activities

As you start feeling better, gradually reintroduce activities such as work, school, and physical exercise. Avoid pushing yourself too hard and listen to your body’s signals.

Physical Therapy

Depending on the nature of your injury, physical therapy can play a crucial role in restoring mobility, balance, and coordination. Dr Tyagi advised to engage in sports and outdoor activities.

Cognitive Rehabilitation

Traumatic brain injuries can affect cognitive functions such as memory, attention, and problem-solving. Cognitive rehabilitation techniques, including exercises and strategies to improve these functions, can be beneficial. Dr Tyagi suggested that activities like “reading or listening to music” can help.
